Overview
This course is for social workers, care managers and occupational therapists involved in assessing the needs of people with dementia and their carers. Prior to attending this course you will already have an understanding of dementia and its psycho-social impact upon individuals.

 

This course will equip all those involved in assessing the needs of people living with dementia and their carers to undertake person-centred needs assessments.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to:


  • share refreshed knowledge of dementia in relation to assessment

  • describe how the concept of person-centred care underpins good practice in assessment

  • recognise how wellbeing impacts on the needs of people living with dementia and their carers

  • identify effective strategies to assist with person centred needs assessment for the person and their carers

  • explain what services there are in the city and how disciplines and agencies work together to assess the needs of people living with dementia
