The course will explore some of the myths and stigma faced by this group of people. The course is informed by current research and will encourage you to integrate the knowledge and research into your practice.

After completing this course you will be able to

  • define schizophrenia, understand the signs and symptoms and challenge the myths and stigma that people tend to experience

  • understand how to support people with schizophrenia using a strengths based approach

  • explain how to work using the social and recovery model with people with schizophrenia 

  • increase your confidence in providing information and advice in the context of the Care Act's Wellbeing principle
