This will be an opportunity to explore recent case law and any updates in relation to legislation, and any implications for AMHP practice. This will also include the interface between the Mental Health Act 1983 and the Care Act 2014.
This session will be facilitated by Neil Hickman. Neil is a specialist mental health lawyer, member of the Law Society Mental Health Panel and has previous experience in family law. Before qualifying as a solicitor, Neil practised as a social worker, team manager and ASW / AMHP for 15 years.
This session will update AMHPs on changes to case law, as well as particular aspects of the law that have changed as a result of the impact of Covid-19. There will also be an opportunity for individual AMHPs to discuss particular practice legal dilemmas they have encountered and obtain feedback from Neil and their peers.
