Understanding and Managing Our Emotions

This course will provide you with an opportunity to explore what is meant by the term Emotional Intelligence, and its value to you during stressful times.  It will help you develop your insights into your own emotions and how to manage them.

This 90-minute course is a mix of input and individual activities, with access to online resources & research. 

This programme will cover key concepts and models, with the emphasis on developing practical knowledge, skills and confidence to apply in the context of your workplace.

Code: BH/20/0891 First Aid at Work (3 day) - for council employees and schools ONLY

This course is for those that:
-are employed by Brighton and Hove City Council or in Brighton and Hove Schools
-are acting as lead first aiders that require with a recognised first aid at work qualification and

Upon completion of the course, First Aiders will be able to take control and provide assistance in an emergency situation at their workplace Candidates will be able to respond to an accident or illness promptly, effectively and safely. Topics covered include: resuscitation and CPR, dealing with wounds, bleeding, burns, scalds, heart conditions and minor injuries.

Attendees will undertake a practical and written assessment on the final day of the course. On successful completion, you will be a recognised First Aider for 3 years; you are not required to attend the one day emergency first aid training as well.

NB: Suitable clothing taking some physical activity into account should be worn.

The programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed below in the additional information. Working with risk and supporting service users to live their chosen lifestyles can feel difficult. Getting the balance right in respecting individual rights whilst also fulfilling our duty of care is important. 

This course will look at the principles of person centred risk and care and will help people support and promote good risk assessment and care planning.  The course will also look at how to work with restrictive practices procedures to ensure that people are not unnecessarily restricted in our desire to manage risks.

This course is for frontline staff including those new to adult social care.

This course looks at the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to adults, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting. This course is aimed at customer facing staff who support adults.
