The Government describes the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 as the most ambitious legislative reform in decades. The Act aims to reduce homelessness and places significant extra duties on local authorities.

This course will give you an understanding of the new duties on local authorities and changes to existing housing law, drawing upon the Act and key parts of the Homelessness Code of Guidance for Local Authorities (March 2018).

This course will help you to identify any manual handling issues within your area of work. You will be shown the correct way to move, lift and carry loads in order to reduce your risk of injury.  
 
The course will show you how to carry out a risk assessment for load handling activities and teach you about the anatomy of the body and the mechanics of the back and spine, with a practical session to suit the delegates.
 
Duration: 1 x half day session
Refresher? Recommended 3 yearly.

Code: BH/18/1030 Safer People Handling - Basic Awareness (EVENT FULL)

This one day course is designed to increase staff awareness of the possible injuries to themselves and to enable them to carry out transfer operations safely. The course includes informal discussions and practice in transfer techniques.
Numbers on the course are strictly limited to allow time for all participants to practice the various transfer techniques and use of the transfer aids.

Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
.
