Code: BH/17/076 WRAP ( Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent) and Far Right Aware (pm) - Housing

Prevent is one of the four strands of CONTEST, the Government’s Counter Terrorism Strategy.  The ‘Prevent’ Strategy is to reduce the threat to the UK from terrorism and aims ‘to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism’.  Prevent addresses all forms of terrorism.

The WRAP - ‘Workshop To Raise Awareness Of Prevent’ - training provides an introduction to ‘Prevent’ aimed at objective two of the Prevent strategy - supporting vulnerable people.  It has been developed by the Home Office to raise awareness of and explain Prevent within the wider safeguarding context.  The workshop will develop your knowledge of support available and skills to recognise when someone may be becoming involved in or supporting terrorism, to help them make a decision not to carry on that path, before any crime is committed.

The Far Right Aware section in the workshop is designed to augment existing WRAP training on extremism issues, focusing on how they relate to the extreme right.  It will enable professionals in their role to challenge extremist and terrorist ideology.
