This session of the leadership development programme is for tier 4 managers and is by invitation only. If you have not received an email inviting you to apply, please do not book yourself on the course.

This half day workshop emphasises the importance of manager support for equality and diversity within the council in service delivery and staff management. It covers the Equality Act 2010, with a focus on the demographic make-up of the city and BHCC recruitment, selection, retention and management of staff. The workshop will also look at the impact and potential consequences of a breach of the Act for individuals, managers and the council’s reputation.

Code: BH/18/0316 Positive Behaviour Support (3 day course) (EVENT FULL)

The positive behaviour support course aims to equip staff, parents and carers with the skills and knowledge to support adults with learning disabilities whose behaviour can challenge. This course is for Learning Disability Services who provide support to individuals who display high risk challenging behaviours.

This is an accredited course and your attendance is required on 3 days during a 4 week period.  Days 1,2 & 3 must be completed in order. 

The assessment and intervention workbook involves work between each day and must be completed appropriate to the needs of the individual that has been focused on for a certificate to be awarded. This course contains a multiple choice theory test on day 3 and presentations to the rest of the group.

If for any reason a delegate misses a day then they should attend the next available course to complete the day(s) missed within a 6 month period.

Please note: Priority places will be allocated to services who are signed up to the PBS Sussex model or services who support individuals who display the most complex, high risk challenging behaviours.

Places on this course are not allocated automatically.  To be considered for this course you need to add your reasons in the special requirements box as to why you need to attend this training course.  This information will be used in determining whether you get a place or not.

This course is restricted for Pharmacy and GP staff only. Please DO NOT attend if you work for any other service.

All smokers in the country deserve high quality evidence-based behavioural support. For this to be achieved, Stop Smoking Practitioners need to be trained to a minimum standard and be able to demonstrate competence to fulfill their role.

Therefore training courses should cover relevant topics, as indicated by a set of learning outcomes. The attached document lists a set of learning outcomes that have been agreed as essential for individual and group face-to-face smoking cessation interventions. In some cases, they are based on the need for Stop Smoking Practitioners to be able to accurately answer queries from clients on matters relating to smoking and smoking cessation. In other cases they are required for safe professional practice and in some cases they are based on a systematic analysis of behaviour change techniques that have a reasonable evidence base to support their use.
