To log your interest for this CPD module please click on “request a place" by 1st June 2017.

This is a 15 credit version of the Professional Learning Review module and can be taken instead of that module if you only require 15 credits to ‘top up’ your credit total to a PGDip.

This module is only available on request to PGDip practitioners who have previously completed professional practice or management modules (eg equivalent to Practice Education modules) and no other modules are available or appropriate for them to complete their PGDip. Practitioners will be able to review and reflect on this prior learning which shows on-going development of expertise. Applications will be looked at on a case by case basis.

The module comprises an individually tailored delivery of tutorials and, dependent on participant numbers, group tutorial sessions. These will assist the candidate to review previous learning against current learning outcomes, plan work and critically reflect on past and current practice in relation to contemporary reading and research relevant to role and award pathway.

NOTE: This module is primarily self study. Teaching will focus on the use of relevant knowledge and research for role (mapped against PCF) and the development of professional leadership in the role.

For further information about modules, pathways and awards see the application information under 'attached docuement'

Code: BH/18/0127 Mindfulness Programme for Health and Adult Social Care BY INVITE ONLY

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an approach developed in the 90’s by three cognitive therapy specialists in an internationally linked programme of research into the prevention of depression.  It is recommended by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence as a means to prevent depressive relapse but is being used increasingly widely with people who experience anxiety and stress.

MBCT aims to help people build their own strategies for staying well based upon skills and practices that are best taught in a group rather than a one to one context.

The core of the MBCT approach is practice and experiential learning, developed over an eight week programme of weekly 2 hour sessions. Participants are also expected to commit to 30 – 40 minutes of daily mindfulness practice.

Note: This is not group therapy and does not require you to share personal information or talk about past experiences, although you will reflect on how your mindfulness practice is developing. People engaged in counselling and/or mental health services are encouraged to seek advice from their relevant health professional prior to enrolling.

If you work in Sussex Partnership Trust / Section 75 services please do not apply for this programme. There are a wide range of opportunities open to you from the Sussex Mindfulness Centre.
