Being resilient can help you bounce back in tough times, cope with additional pressures and stay healthy in times of change. Learning habits that build your resilience, ready for more turbulent times, will prevent you becoming over-whelmed by circumstances and keep you healthier in body and mind.

This short course will introduce you to a resilience model against which you will self-assess against your current state of resilience, show you how a stronger base of resilience will help you cope with changes at work and home, and give you a taste of mindfulness exercises that can keep you calm and focused in stressful times.

Brighton & Hove is committed to meeting the needs of those harmed by crime and conflict, by ensuring safe, secure and effective restorative practices are embedded throughout the city. This is the pledge made by the city's Community Safety Partnership in 2015.

This training covers the full range of skills outlined in the core 2013 National Occupational Standards for Restorative Practice.

This course was accredited by the Restorative Justice Council in March 2018 to enable learners to facilitate restorative conferences/meetings at the standard required by the Criminal Justice System.

This update is for staff who have attended the safeguarding adults basic awareness training in the last 3 years and need a refresher.

The course is a reminder of the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to service users, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting this. This course is aimed at frontline staff who support adults.

This one day course is designed to increase staff awareness of the possible injuries to themselves and to enable them to carry out transfer operations safely. The course includes informal discussions and practice in transfer techniques.
Numbers on the course are strictly limited to allow time for all participants to practice the various transfer techniques and use of the transfer aids.

Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992

This course will support frontline staff to work with adults who are believed to be self neglecting, and putting themselves at risk of harm. It introduces self neglect as part of the sussex safeguarding adults policy and procedures and the multi-agency approach to supporting people who self neglect.

Participants will have an opportunity to consider case studies and to meet with colleagues from other disciplines to help develop an understanding of different approaches to working with this complex issue.

This 30 credit module is designed to enable senior practitioners and managers in children’s services to develop their knowledge and skills in current law, policy and research relating to risk analysis and decision-making and consider how these can be applied in day-to-day practice and/or management across a range of work place settings and roles.

You will learn about key perspectives, theory and the evidence base for risk and you will be taught in large groups. Additional smaller seminar groups provide a space for practitioners and managers to consider role-related challenges. Both inform work-based action learning projects, as well as critical reflection and the development of risk management practice. Peer feedback through ‘sharing’ progress on risk projects in seminars and via the virtual learning environment is an assessment requirement, and evidence of learning is incorporated into your portfolio.
