This half day workshop will give an overview of why we risk assess victims of domestic violence and abuse; the history, purpose and use of the Domestic Abuse Stalking Harassment and Honour Based Violence (DASH) Risk Identification Checklist (RIC). This will include reviewing how professionals can respond to disclosure, including the referral of high-risk cases to a Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) process.

This training is highly recommended for lone workers and other staff that deal with the public and potentially confrontational situations at work.

Violence and aggression at work is one of the highest causes of reported incidents. This course aims to increase your awareness of personal safety risks and different ways of controlling them.

Topics covered include: forms of violence and aggression and tolerance levels, potential triggers, early warning signs, personal safety tips and methods to diffuse/calm confrontational situations.

Information will also be provided on procedures and systems to manage personal safety issues at work and the support services available for staff affected by violence and aggression at work.

This workshop will provide an overview of recent guidance from the Department of Health and Social Care:  Safeguarding Adults Protocol: Pressure Ulcers and the interface with a Safeguarding Enquiry.


The session will be led by a Safeguarding Adults Specialist Nurse and Tissue Viability Nurse(TVN) from Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT). They will discuss the current NHS processes in place to support and prevent pressure injury and consider when an adult safeguarding response under section 42 of the Care Act 2014 is necessary. 


This workshop is primarily aimed at managers and senior staff in social care and nursing home services, and health professionals undertaking section 42 safeguarding enquiries

This course is aimed at staff involved in the manual handling of adults, including the use of hoists and other support equipment, who have completed the Safer People Handling Basic Awareness training course or a Safer People Handling refresher course within the last 12 months. Important Eligibility Applies - if you last completed training outside of the last 12 month period (30 days beyond this, absolute maximum is acceptable) or you have not completed training in this area before please do not book onto this refresher event, you must complete the bascic awareness event.

It is a National/local directive that staff refresh and update their knowledge and skills regularly. This half-day course will update staff on the possible injuries to themselves and enable them to carry out transfer operations safely.
