Code: BH/18/1241 Adults CPD Module: Social Work in Multidisciplinary Settings

To express and interest in this module please 'request a place' by the 30th June 2018

This module will explore social work practice in private, voluntary, independent or health-based settings working with complex issues such as mental health, substance misuse and/or homelessness, either with children and young people, or with adults. Students will consider issues of social work professional identity, as well as the skills and knowledge that social workers use in these settings and the value bases applicable to such work. The module will also enable students to update their knowledge regarding the legal and policy framework and implications for their practice.

Confidence to facilitate is a key skill as a manager. Facilitation can underpin many other managerial skills, and provide managers with a range of approaches & analytical tools that can assist meetings and facilitated discussions, including problem solving.

This course is aimed to provide you with an introduction to facilitation skills.  This is not a knowledge based programme, but an interactive, participative & experiential approach.  The course is intended to challenge your thinking about facilitation, & provide you with an opportunity to practice the skills of a facilitator.  Facilitation Skills is a highly interactive 2 day course that will help you to design and manage processes that will ensure successful outcomes and to gain the commitment of all those involved.

 

The course is a mix of input, individual & group activities, with access to online resources & research.

Code: BH/18/0524 First Aid at Work (3 day)

This course is for those that will be acting as lead first aiders and will provide candidates with a recognised first aid at work qualification.

Upon completion of the course, First Aiders will be able to take control and provide assistance in an emergency situation at their workplace Candidates will be able to respond to an accident or illness promptly, effectively and safely.

Topics covered include: resuscitation and CPR, dealing with wounds, bleeding, burns, scalds, heart conditions and minor injuries.

Attendees will undertake a practical and written assessment on the final day of the course. On successful completion, you will be a recognised First Aider for 3 years; you are not required to attend the one day emergency first aid training as well.

NB: Suitable clothing taking some physical activity into account should be worn.

This course looks at the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to service users, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting. This course is aimed at frontline staff who support adults.

This course is aimed at staff involved in the manual handling of adults, including the use of hoists and other support equipment, who have completed the Safer People Handling Basic Awareness training course or a Safer People Handling refresher course within the last 12 months. Important Eligibility Applies - if you last completed training outside of the last 12 month period (30 days beyond this, absolute maximum is acceptable) or you have not completed training in this area before please do not book onto this refresher event, you must complete the bascic awareness event.

It is a National/local directive that staff refresh and update their knowledge and skills regularly. This half-day course will update staff on the possible injuries to themselves and enable them to carry out transfer operations safely.
