This course will help services to meet the quality requirements of the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety. It will also support staff to understand the importance of their own role in working with the CQC as well as the role of managers and other staff.
The course will cover the role of the Care Quality Commission and their methods of working, Essential Standards of Quality and Safety, CQC Regulations and Review methods, Quality Risk Profiles and Notifications and the importance of the provider’s own Quality Assessments. It will look at a variety of quality assurance methods and how these methods of feedback should be used to assist quality improvement.

Dementia Friends Information Sessions are run by volunteer Dementia Friends Champions, who are trained and supported by Alzheimer’s Society. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.

In addition to these open sessions The Dementia Action Alliance are also able to provide team sessions for services who wish to get on board and sign up to the DAA and undertake simple actions to then be awarded the Dementia Friendly 2018-2019 kite mark.  The kite mark can be displayed on your premises to demonstrates to people that you are proactively helping to reduce the stigma attached to dementia.

The skill of coaching is a key area for managers.  If you haven’t had any experience of coaching, this development is essential. 

It's not enough to tell people what you want them to do and expect they'll do it, you need to be able to understand what it takes to get the best out of each individual. One size doesn't fit all. This is true whether you are a manager or someone working alongside peers - you will probably have to use coaching skills as part of your everyday communication.

Key Coaching Skills begins to develop your skills, knowledge and insight, which you can use immediately for personal and team effectiveness.  The half-day session uses a combination of input, activities, group work and individual reflection; building your confidence, skills and helping  you to identify the next steps for your own development.

This course looks at the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to service users, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting. This course is aimed at frontline staff who support adults.

This course is aimed at staff involved in the manual handling of adults, including the use of hoists and other support equipment, who have completed the Safer People Handling Basic Awareness training course or a Safer People Handling refresher course within the last 12 months. Important Eligibility Applies - if you last completed training outside of the last 12 month period (30 days beyond this, absolute maximum is acceptable) or you have not completed training in this area before please do not book onto this refresher event, you must complete the bascic awareness event.

It is a National/local directive that staff refresh and update their knowledge and skills regularly. This half-day course will update staff on the possible injuries to themselves and enable them to carry out transfer operations safely.

To log your interest for this CPD module please click on “request a place" by 30th June 2018.

This 15 credit module is only available on request to practitioners undertaking the PGDip.  It provides experienced staff with the opportunity to develop their professional role through action research.  Applications will be looked at on a case by case basis.

You will identify an issue or a service need relevant to your professional role which would benefit you and/or your organisation from further exploration or development.

Action learning sets will enable you to present your work – issues, dilemmas, critical incidents - and receive consultative supervision from your peer group. You will have access to some research seminars and a virtual learning environment for additional learning support and resources. You will be expected to engage in autonomous self-directed learning, critical self-reflection, and practice development through research.
