This two day course is aimed at all social work staff who carry out the role of a Lead Enquiry Officer (LEO) or who supervise staff carrying out this role. It will cover the principles that underpin safeguarding work with adults and the practice needed to undertake an enquiry. Throughout the course we will be focusing on Making Safeguarding Personal and working with individuals and their identified outcomes to ensure their safety.

Learning outcomes

After completing this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the 6 principles that underpin safeguarding work with adults

  • Focus on making safeguarding personal throughout all safeguarding adults work

  • Understand and apply the principles around making safeguarding personal

  • Explore the different approaches required for addressing different concerns

  • Have increased knowledge about the practice and process when causing others to enquire

  • Be familiar with the systems and processes used for recording safeguarding work

  • Plan a safeguarding enquiry

  • Have increased knowledge of other organisations that support safeguarding work

  • Feel confident in completing a risk of harm assessment and identifying ongoing actions

  • Reflect and identify other areas of training and professional development related to safeguarding adults
