Being resilient can help you bounce back in tough times, cope with additional pressures and stay healthy in times of change. Learning habits that build your resilience, ready for more turbulent times, will prevent you becoming over-whelmed by circumstances and keep you healthier in body and mind.
This short course will introduce you to a resilience model against which you will self-assess against your current state of resilience, show you how a stronger base of resilience will help you cope with changes at work and home, and give you a taste of mindfulness exercises that can keep you calm and focused in stressful times.

By the end of this course you will:
have defined what we understand by 'resilience', 'stress management' and 'mindfulness'
explored a model of resilience with five capabilities
have self-assessed against the model
have considered some tips for improving resilience, stress management and mindfulness
have explored ways that you can build support networks to discuss, build and strengthen your resilience in stressful times
In the public sector, change is now the norm. These courses explore what happens before, during and after change. It offers practical tools to make potentially difficult situations more manageable.
There are various half day courses with different themes:-
These courses are available to all managers of staff who are experiencing change and will give insight into how to lead and manage change in your teams:-
Making Change Happen - Current Change and How People React, an overview of Modernisation (the Council's Change Management portfolio), and how to understand and support staff through change
Making Change Happen – A change management case study, plus some practical techniques to manage change, ie. Programme/Project Management and Business Improvement. A manager will also be present to talk about their experiences of going through change
Making Change Happen - How to conduct a service re-design. HR Advisory/HR Business Partners will take you through how to conduct a service re-design. The course focuses on the service redesign toolkit and gives managers guidance and tools for designing and implementing restructures in their service.
