This course will provide candidates with an overview of COSHH. The training will focus on the potential hazards associated with chemicals, substances and biological hazards in the workplace and how to control the risks.

Candidates will be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to extract key information from safety data sheets and complete suitable and sufficient COSHH risk assessments, in-line with legal requirements, (the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002).

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to:

      • understand the importance of COSHH risk assessments

      • know the main types of hazardous substances and how they nay cause harm

      • understand the principles of controlling risks from hazardous substances including the hierarchy of controls

      • know how to undertake a COSHH risk assessment and select appropriate controls


Ideally, candidates should have attended Risk Assessment training prior to this course or have some experience of carrying out risk assessments.
