The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to make suitable and sufficient assessments of all manual handling operations and to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to the lowest level reasonably practicable. This course will provide assessors with the necessary information and skills to undertake assessments of manual handling needs.
Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
• undertake assessments of manual handling needs to ensure compliance with current legislation and council policy and practice guidelines.
This course is for managers and senior staff who will be carrying out manual handling assessments, and who have NOT completed either this course or the shorter refresher course ('Safer People Handling Risk Assessor Refresher') within the last 12 months.
Participants must ensure they wear appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable footwear that covers the whole of the foot as you will be actively participating in safer people handling techniques. Open toed shoes and sandals are not acceptable and you maybe turned away due to health and safety reasons which will then incur a charge.
Please be aware that if you are unable to participate in the practical session you will only receive a certificate of attendance, not a full certificate which assesses your competency and you will have to attend a refresher session at a later date when you are fit and well to have your competency assessed.
