Personal Safety / Lone Working training (for Children's Social Work Teams)

This training is mandatory for frontline children's social work teams where staff are working alone during the course of their work. A lone worker is defined as:

‘A worker whose activities involve a large percentage of their working time operating in situations without the benefit of interaction with other workers or without supervision’.

This bespoke training aims to increase personal safety awareness. It also covers the procedures required to ensure that personal safety issues at work are addressed.

Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • discuss incident reporting procedures and Health & Safety policies

  • use the P.E.T. model to reduce personal safety risks in the workplace

  • recognise issues associated with visiting clients in their own home, telephone abuse and taking clients in your car

  • evaluate how to respond to potential violence & aggression using diffusion & calming techniques

  • develop good working practices
