Overview
The pandemic has raised the number of people who drink at potentially harmful levels in our city, Agnes Munday is offering the popular Alcohol Screening and Brief Interventions course again, this time as a 2h Zoom workshop. The course address the fact that some of us will be working and trying to engage via phone or zoom with people, and mixes best practice theory and skills practice.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the 2h session, you will be able


  • Define & explain key messages around alcohol in the context of your role

  • Recognise the importance of brief interventions to enable people who do not need specialised treatment to change their drinking behaviour

  • Recognise the importance of addressing barriers to behaviour change?        

  • Explain the link between alcohol and a range of health and other  issues

  • Practice skills and increase confidence in using a screening tool and developing a brief intervention

  • Identify when & how to refer to specialist services and demonstrate awareness of services in Brighton and Hove for those who require additional support

  • Know where to find further resources
