This practical training is highly recommended for those people who, as part of their role, need to carry out short duration work at height using basic access equipment such as stepladders.

This training is not suitable for those who routinely access significant heights over 3 metres, or for those who use more specialised equipment.

If you use, assemble or dismantle mobile scaffold towers then you must attend PASMA training. This course is

Learning outcomes

You will be able to:

  • Awareness of BHCC Working at Height Standard

  • Knowledge of the Work at Height Regulations 2005

  • Understand the need to plan for work at height – Avoid, Prevent, Minimise and undertake work at height risk assessments

  • Know  how to use simple access equipment safely  such as ladders, stepladders and kick steps/roll steps

  • Describe how to inspect and maintain simple access equipment

 This course is for you if:
  • your job involves short duration working at height - primarily with the use of ladders and stepladders
  • you manage employees who do short duration low level work at height
