Overview
Most of us experience trauma in our lifetimes. Social care practitioners work with children and families who have often experienced high levels of trauma and who may well be reluctant to engage with them.
Relationship based and Trauma informed approaches recognise that past experiences, relationships, intersectionality, and context affect current ways of being, relationships and interactions. Therefore, the relationships practitioners build to promote safety is emotional work that inevitably impacts upon them.
Reflective and Trauma informed supervision/ management/organisations can support workers to develop resilience and help them in their practice.
This live interactive virtual classroom training provides managers/supervisors with an overview of the training for practitioners, building on managers/supervisors existing knowledge, increasing confidence in embedding the principals of trauma informed practice throughout their work. The course also explores managers/supervisors’ own wellbeing and strategies that support their practice.
The course draws on contemporary trauma theory and principles of trauma informed practice that can be applied across a range of professional roles.
