This refresher training will benefit qualified paediatric first aiders and qualified emergency paediatric first aiders by enabling them to refresh the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, covered in the Paediatric First Aid course. It is designed to help maintain skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.
Please note: If your 3 year Paediatric First Aid certificate has expired, you need to attend the full 2 day Paediatric First Aid course to re-qualify. This training is a 1/2 day refresher to practice your skills before you re-qualify.This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide first aid to infants and children when dealing with:
- An emergency situation
- Chronic or sudden paediatric illness
- Paediatric injury
Attending an Annual Paediatric First Aid Refresher course is not a legal requirement, but is ‘strongly recommended’ by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
There are no formal Practical or Theory Assessments. The Trainer will carry out on-going assessment to assess the learners’ knowledge, skills and understanding related to the assessment criteria.

Re-Certification
The Annual Paediatric First Aid Refresher does not lead to a qualification and is not certificated.
IMPORTANT: the first aid training programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are provided in the attached guidance document. Please ensure that this is read and understood before applying and attending this course. Delegates can also request a copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course.
Please note: Whilst the course is delivered in a covid secure way, please consider with your manager whether it is essential for you to attend as the delegates will be a mix of staff from different workplaces.
