This course covers the essential elements of food safety to enable you to safely prepare and handle food.
There is a multiple choice quiz at the end of the session. The purpose of the multiple choice quiz is for the learners to have an opportunity to assess their own learning from the session.
By the end of this online session, you wil be able to:
• explain the importance of hygiene in premises, use of equipment and pest control
• explain how to prevent contamination
• explain cleaning regimes and state the purpose and effect of disinfection.
As good practice all support staff supporting people with food needs should be appropriately trained. This course is suitable for the majority of front line support staff who handle food in the workplace.
There is an alternative accredited Food Safety Level 2 course for the minority of staff whose main role is working in the kitchen and / or have the a lead responsibility for overseeing kitchen safety within their place of work.
A workbook has been created for you, by the trainer to use during this virtual session. Please can you ensure you have a printed copy in readiness for this session. If you are unable to do this, please ask someone to do this on your behalf or save a copy of each document on your computer or device, so you have it readily available to use during the training session.

Please note: -
If there is more than one delegate attending from the same organisation there is a requirement that all delegates on this course are joining the session with an individual device, be that from their own home on their own personal/work device or from their workplace on an individual device. The trainer has also advised that if staff are doing this in their workplace, working on individual devices in the same room doesn’t work as it picks up feedback and distorts communications so different rooms would be required for delegates from the same organisation.
