Learning outcomes
By the end of this course you will be able to: 


  • discuss the requirements of manual handling legislation relating to Occupational Therapy practice – brief re-cap

  • describe professional responsibilities with regard to handling adults

  • explain the factors that contribute to poor practice in manual handling

  • operate specialist manual handling equipment in a competent manner and understand the risk factors in the use of the equipment

VERY IMPORTANT – It is essential that you and your manager read the attached COVID-19 Risk Assessment Guidance for Training Participants before attending this training.

Delegates will need to enter Montague House by using the wooden gate on Somerset Street. This will be open on the day. Behind the wooden gate you will find the back door into the manual handling training room.

Participants must wear appropriate clothing and flat, comfortable footwear that covers the whole of the foot as you will be actively participating in safer people handling techniques. Open toed shoes and sandals are not acceptable and you may be turned away due to health and safety reasons, which will then incur a charge.
