Applications are invited to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional January – June 2023
The prospective applicants must be:
· Employed by B&HCC and,
· Social Work England registered social worker, or,
· Registered mental health or learning disability nurse with the NMC, or,
· HCPC registered Occupational Therapist, or,
· BPS registered Psychologist.
You will need the support from your line manager to apply, in the knowledge this is a 5-6 month full time course with a 40 day placement in the dedicated AMHP team.
On successful passing of the course you will be considered for approval (warranting) under the Mental Health Act 1983 to carry out the roles and responsibilities of an AMHP on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council.
There is an annual market supplement payable to warranted AMHPs who undertake 30 days on the AMHP rota each year (pro rata days and payment for part-timers). In addition you will need to undertake a minimum of 18 hours (3 days) AMHP related training to comply with the Regulations every year.

Brighton & Hove City Council will interview applicants prior to selecting the applicant(s) who will be put forward to the University of Brighton for their round of interviews (dates TBC late August/early Sept)

The University are running an introductory session for potential applicants. This will take place via Microsoft Teams on the afternoon of Monday 20 June 2022: 2:30pm-4pm.
During this session they will provide information about the course and discuss some of the things people might consider before applying. Previous cohorts say they have found this very useful in terms of preparing for both the interview and the course.
