This 30 credit module explores a variety of key topical issues relevant to contemporary social work practice with young people. It incorporates the most recent research and emerging best practice on these key topical issues and draws on professionals from a range of disciplines to deliver subject-specific content.

The module covers:


  • Developmental trauma in adolescence

  • Youth Justice Theory and legislation

  • Working with extra-familial risk and harm, including sexual and criminal exploitation

  • Transitional safeguarding

  • Gender-based violence and radicalisation


The module includes presentations from survivors and young experts-by-experience who deliver dynamic and interactive sessions.
