Bee in the Woods Kindergarten is an outdoor nursery, operating from a small woodland on the outskirts of Portslade. We love to play outdoors, rain or shine.

The outdoors can be a rich and inspirational place for children to develop communication and language skills. An environment that changes daily with the weather and the seasons, an endless supply of open-ended resources and lots of space for movement - children can find their voices through outdoor play!

At Bee in the Woods, we have been studying how children communicate and how language skills can be supported through our interactions with each other and the environment and we are keen to share some of our best practice with other settings.

This session will be OUTDOORS, active, playful and full of ideas to take back to your own setting.

Course pre-requisites
This course will take place in our Outdoor Kindergarten and participants will be outdoors all day. Therefore, we just ask that participants have enthusiasm for being outdoors and that they are happy to embrace the elements!

As the saying goes, ‘There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing..!”
Even in summer, the woods are several degrees cooler than the outdoor temperature. It is always better to come with extra layers, rather than under-dress and be cold.

We recommend the following clothing and kit;

?     Base Layer (Long sleeve vest)

?     Mid layer of loose fitting clothes (Eg t-short, fleece, trousers etc)

?     Outer Layer (Waterproof trousers if raining, warm coat)

?     Thick socks,

?     Walking boots/trainers are better than wellies (wellies can be cold and slippy).

Please bring a Packed Lunch and a Camping Chair  - we can provide hot drinks
