Code: BH/16/022 Child Physical Abuse (for ASYEs)

This course is mandatory for newly qualified social workers and is also suitable for those working in children’s services who may be working with families where physical abuse is an issue.

The aim of this course is to enable participants to gain a greater understanding of how physical abuse affects children and young people and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to intervene effectively.

Priority booking is being given to Newly Qualified Social Workers as this course is mandatory for their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.

You are welcome to book onto this date, but you will only receive confirmation of a place if there is capacity. You will be notified by email if you have been successful.

This course will run for non-ASYEs on 15th January 2018.

Code: BH/17/078 Safeguarding Adults Conference

The Brighton & Hove Safeguarding Adults Board invites you to the 10th Annual Safeguarding Adults Conference.

The conference is for staff and managers who support adults at risk of abuse or neglect. This includes:

  • Adult Social Care
  • Health
  • Police
  • Community Safety Partnership
  • Housing  
  • Not for profit and further relevant organisations

The Conference features a mix of presentations and workshops designed to suit the wide range of people involved in safeguarding adults.

The Chair of the Brighton & Hove Safeguarding Adults Board, Graham Bartlett, will be chairing the conference.  

There are two key note speakers: Alison Powney (Daybreak FGC Area Programme and Training Manager) speaking about Family Group Conferencing, and Lynne Phair (Independent Consultant Nurse) speaking about Showing Care and Compassion in Difficult Situations.

A variety of workshops will be held to compliment and extend learning and awareness from the speakers. You will be able to attend two workshops, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You can find details and book your workshops in the link that you will be sent with your confirmation email.

Code: BH/17/622 Safer People Handling - Basic Awareness

This one day course is designed to increase staff awareness of the possible injuries to themselves and to enable them to carry out transfer operations safely. The course includes informal discussions and practice in transfer techniques.
Numbers on the course are strictly limited to allow time for all participants to practice the various transfer techniques and use of the transfer aids.

Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
.
