The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to make suitable and sufficient assessments of all manual handling operations and to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to the lowest level reasonably practicable. This course will provide assessors with the necessary information and skills to undertake assessments of manual handling needs.

 

Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

This course is for managers/supervisors in adult social care services that are required to induct new staff and for managers / supervisors to have an opportunity to increase their knowledge, skills and competence in delivering effective induction and supervision.

As the Care Certificate was introduced 4 years ago and is now embedded in Adult Social Care it will no longer be covered in the induction part of this course. Instead, general induction will be covered. 

For those of you who do the Care Certificate as part of your workplace induction, there are a number of documents attached that will provide support for you in inducting staff, whether they are new to adult social care or have adult social care experience and / or a social care qualification.

This 30 Masters credit level module for social workers and other professionals who need to deepen their capabilities for understanding, engaging and communicating with children and young people in complex, contested and sensitive situations.

You must be in a role where you are regularly engaging and communicating directly with children and young people as the assignment requires reflection on, and evidence from, actual practice. Applicants may have previously undertaken child observation exercises in their qualifying training, but this module offers a much more in-depth and critical experience designed
to underpin specialist practice.

Please note - there is a requirement to observe a child not known to you on six occasions as part of this module. You need to factor this in to your planning and discuss with your manager before applying.

Developing authenticity and presence. Building rapport with your audience in any context. Developing engaging content using storytelling.

Summary:
A highly interactive workshop where the learning will be experiential. In the morning session, participants will learn about the impact of body language and use of voice to develop presence and confidence. They will practice different personality archetypes as a means to flex communication style and build rapport with a diverse audience.

In the afternoon, they will combine this ‘toolkit’ with storytelling techniques to develop engaging content. The final part of the session will bring it all together by focussing on how to present with confidence in a variety of contexts, with individual coaching. Practising active listening, trouble shooting and fielding individual questions/concerns will be encouraged throughout.

This bite-size session will be an opportunity for managers to;

  • explore opportunities and issues,
  • ask questions and gain a better understanding of new apprenticeship landscape
  • understand your role in supporting the apprenticeship strategy
  • cover some of The Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) rules that the council are governed by
  • support you in your journey in recruiting an apprentice or supporting existing staff.
