Code: BH/20/1372 Anti racism and white privilege

Brighton & Hove City Council has made a commitment to becoming an anti-racist council.

As a predominantly white council we must recognise what we don’t know, what we don’t experience and see. We need to openly discuss the language we use and understand what different words mean to different people.

To support this, we want to educate staff on white privilege, language and structural racism, As a starting point, we are offering this training for staff.

This anti-racism session has been designed to:

  • support staff to strengthen their understanding of race equality and develop the knowledge and skills to identify and address racism in their workplace
  • Introduce participants to the main concepts of race equality, such as privilege and structural racism within a safe, open and reflective
Please note that this is not the mandatory Fair and Inclusive briefing session that all staff must attend.
