Code: BH/20/0905 First Aid Half Day Annual Refresher - for council employees and schools ONLY

This course is for you if you are employed by Brighton and Hove City Council or in Brighton and Hove Schools and:

• you are the designated First Aider in your workplace and required to assist casualties
• you hold a First Aid at Work Certificate
• you want to refresh or improve your knowledge, skills and confidence

If you currently hold an in date First Aid at Work Qualification Certificate, or an Emergency First Aid Attendance Certificate you are eligible to attend this refresher course.

Recommended for certified First Aiders - this training consists of practical demonstrations and information sharing and will enable delegates to update their skills, provide an opportunity to ask questions and improve their confidence.

The programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed below in the additional information. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course

This course looks at the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to adults, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting. This course is aimed at customer facing staff who support adults.

We have teamed up with Chichester College to offer staff supported distance learning opportunities in the following areas:

* Customer Service
* Information, Advice and Guidance
* Digital Skills

This follows our succesful launch of Business Admin and Team Leader courses that have recently started.

This information session will provide you with guidance to complete the course and a chance to ask any questions.

If you decide to sign up for the course, after the session you will be asked to complete an enrolment form and be provided with workbooks.

The course takes about 12 weeks to complete.

Completion depends on successfully completing written assessments. This will lead to a Level 2 Certificate. Ongoing support from the college will be available throughout the course.

Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs) are short nationally awarded and recognised qualifications of 15-18 credits. These courses are accredited through the NCFE Awarding Organisation.
