Code: BH/20/1367 Anti racism and white privilege for HRAS only (EVENT FULL)

Brighton & Hove City Council has made a commitment to becoming an anti-racist council.

As a predominantly white council we must recognise what we don’t know, what we don’t experience and see. We need to openly discuss the language we use and understand what different words mean to different people.

To support this, we want to educate staff on white privilege, language and structural racism, As a starting point, we are offering this training for staff.

This anti-racism session has been designed to:

  • support staff to strengthen their understanding of race equality and develop the knowledge and skills to identify and address racism in their workplace
  • Introduce participants to the main concepts of race equality, such as privilege and structural racism within a safe, open and reflective space

The course will be delivered by Lesley Aitcheson, from training company Ceruleanblu. For the last 19 years, Lesley has provided training to range of well-respected organisations.

Lesley is a qualified and experienced organisational and learning development specialist, working with particular focus on leadership, equality and inclusion, organisational development, management skills, and personal development.

Lesley is experienced in working in public, private and third sector organisations, including councils, universities, finance, retail, travel and space industries, the City, and in several well-known blue-chip organisations.
