Code: BH/21/1163 BHSCP - Graded Care Profile Training (GCP2)( BHCC Staff)

Neglect is one of the most important priorities for all safeguarding staff.

This training is run in colaboration with the NSPCC.

This virtual training offer, is part of the neglect strategy for Brighton and Hove and is the adopted model used to make early assessments of neglect.

Once staff have completed this training they will be licenced to use the GCP2 assessment tool, as part of their working practice. It will prove to be useful addition to evidential based assements, used by all those working with children and young people.

It can be used as part on child protection working, and also as an evidential product for family court.

There is an expectation that staff from all agencies will gain a working knowledge of the GCP2 and how it can be used within their working practice.

This course brings together staff working in adult mental health services with children’s service’s staff to explore the way parental mental health difficulties can impact on the lives of children and young people. Code: BH/21/1876 Breast and cervical cancer awareness with NHS screening information session 11.05-12.05 noon (Microsoft Teams)


Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. It mainly affects women, however men can get it also. Learn about the sign and symptoms, the importance of early diagnosis, screening eligibility and how to be more ‘Breast Aware’.

More than 200 females in Brighton and Hove are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Found early, cancer can be cured, treated, managed and lived with.

The Speak Up Against Cancer team are working to raise awareness of the importance of the breast & cervical screening programmes and self-checking, as well as early signs and symptoms. The team are fully trained, local volunteers with an experience of cancer. They believe that the power of lived experience is extremely powerful and are keen to hear from other local people whose cancer was caught early and successfully treated.

This standalone module aims to equip social workers in all fields, and professionals within related health and social care services, with an in-depth critical awareness of contemporary attachment theory and research. It is designed to inform their practice with vulnerable groups across the lifespan particularly when thinking about longer-term intervention work and trauma-informed approaches. This module will also consider developments within neuroscience, developmental trauma and related theories of attachment such as mentalisation

This module is delivered online in Autumn 2021. Dates TBC. (It is also delivered again in the Spring 2022 - this is a separate event on Learning Gateway).

This online module introduces trauma-informed practice as a framework for understanding the impact of trauma, and how professionals can work effectively to facilitate safety and stability for the traumatised children, adults and families they encounter in their work.

Drawing upon the most recent research and examples from practice, the module enables both those in direct practice and service management to better facilitate safety and wellbeing throughout their organisations - for staff and service users alike.

Delivered entirely online over a seven week period, the module affords a high level of flexibility, enabling you to fit learning around existing jobs and personal commitments.

Module assessments include weekly reflective activities and a final paper focused on applying principles of trauma-informed practice in direct work and/or organisational contexts.
