This course covers the essential elements of food safety to enable you to safely prepare and handle food and to support people with their nutrition and hydration needs.

Course attendees will be given a certificate of attendance. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course which will be marked and given to participants to discuss with their manager upon return to work. The Workforce Development Team will contact the managers of participants who do not pass the assessment.

Code: BH/20/0564 Managing the Transition from Primary to Secondary School for Children living with Parental Conflict – Developing Mechanisms of Support

PLEASE NOTE:  This event is designed for school staff and any professional involved in pupil’s transitions to Varndean, Dorothy Stringer, Patching High, and all their feeder primary schools.  If you are not associated with these schools please book on one of the alternative workshops.

This half-day workshop will examine the impact of parental conflict on children and young people, and key messages from research and practice will be explored.

Utilizing a number of case scenarios, those attending will be asked to consider the kinds of issues, challenges and dilemmas that occur when trying to engage and work with parents, their children and young people affected by conflict within the family – matters that may often be manifest in school.

Participants will have opportunities to think about ways of engaging resistant parents, opening difficult conversations and supporting children both within the school context and during the transition from primary to secondary education.

This is a bespoke course is deliver by Tavistock Relationships.

This Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 Award is accredited with the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This course provides learners with knowledge and understanding of the benefits of positive health and wellbeing and how to support and direct individuals towards further practical support in adopting and maintaining a healthier life. The course will provide a national and local context of health and a useful overview of tools and resources including local initiatives and services, which promote health improvement.

PLEASE READ: The accreditation is optional. In order to gain the Award candidates are required to complete a 45-minute multiple-choice exam which will be assessed. Successful candidates will receive an RSPH certificate. This costs £20, which will automatically be added to your basket on booking. If you do not wish to take the exam, please specifiy this under 'special intructions' when requesting a place.

This update is for staff who have attended the safeguarding adults basic awareness training in the last 3 years and need a refresher.

The course is a reminder of the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to service users, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting this. This course is aimed at frontline staff who support adults.

The course has been designed to give an overview of additional risks and barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community who experience domestic or sexual violence and abuse, or harmful practices. The session will look at the barriers the LGBTQ+ community might face when accessing services and support, as well as exploring the complexities of intersectionality, and the additional risks and barriers this can create.
