This training is mandatory for managers and leaders of staff in Children’s Services using the new Supervision Policies. If you have already undertaken supervision training within the last two years, you do not need to attend this course, but may wish to access the ‘Recording Reflective Supervision’ course.

This two day programme aims to focus on the core knowledge and skills needed by all supervisors in Children’s Services and will consider what constitutes effective supervision and its relationship to safe practice and positive outcomes for service users.

Code: BH/18/1058 Emergency First Aid - Adult Social Care

The course, for Adult Social Care Staff, enables first aiders to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. It includes both theory and practical sessions and is designed to boost confidence. There is no final exam however delegates are assessed throughout the course and certificates, valid for three years, are issued to those who have reached the required standard.

Each delegate will be provided with a first aid manual.

Code: BH/18/1049 Food Safety, Nutrition and Hydration

This course covers the essential elements of food safety to enable you to safely prepare and handle food and to support people with their nutrition and hydration needs.

Course attendees will be given a certificate of attendance. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course which will be marked and given to participants to discuss with their manager upon return to work. The Workforce Development Team will contact the managers of participants who do not pass the assessment.

Code: BH/18/0193 Sexual Violence and Abuse: Responding to (first) disclosure

This workshop will build an overview of how to initially respond to a disclosure of rape and sexual assault, explore the additional legal requirements and highlight local support in relation to adults.  The session will include responding to disclosure, risk assessment if abuse is current and roles of local services such as the Independent Sexual Violence Advisors (ISVAs) as well as the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). The session will also include information on historical rape and sexual abuse.
