Code: BH/20/1523 Building your Resilience for all staff (Microsoft Teams) (EVENT FULL)

Coronavirus has changed the way almost all of us work now. It has also affected all aspects of our lives.
Whether you are working from home, deployed to another role in the Council, needing to continue your usual work in the community with social distancing safety measures, or unable to work right now, there is a need to be aware of your personal resilience.

This highly interactive session will give you the opportunity to reflect on your current resilience levels, learn some tips on looking after yourself during the COVID19 crisis, and discuss with others aspects of resilience that are particularly important in these difficult times.

Code: BH/20/1519 Compassionate Leadership (EVENT FULL)

This new session is open to any member of staff who has supervisory responsibility, and is interested in developing their compassionate leadership skills.

Find out how you can adapt your leadership style to help those around you flourish during times of uncertainty. As some staff start to return to the office and others continue to work from home we are all going through another phase of adjustment. If you have supervisory responsibilities, or you work with staff across the organisation, you can support people’s wellbeing by developing your compassionate leadership skills.

The session will be give you valuable time away from emails and day to day work, for an opportunity to think and reflect. It is a group coaching experience, rather than a training course.

The session is led by qualified Leadership Coach, Jo Murfin, member of our BHCC/ESCC Coaching Pool.

Code: BH/20/1291 Cultural Identity: How to Demonstrate Child Focused and Culturally Sensitive Analysis and Practices (EVENT FULL)

In this session, we discuss the multifaceted layers that make up a child’s cultural identity.  Our aim is to examine the practical and creative things we can do, to seek out children’s views about their cultural identity and needs. We explore theories and practical tools that can support our cultural analysis and we consider how to communicate and capture in writing the culturally sensitive work that we have done with children, families and partners.
Please note that after the first morning session with the facilitator, you will be expected to complete a short practical exercise in the afternoon either on your own or in small groups. You will then get the opportunity to review this with the facilitator, in the morning on the second day.

Code: BH/20/1476 Fair and Inclusive Mandatory Virtual Staff Briefing

The council is committed to being a fair and inclusive employer and service provider to the city. This means all staff must understand their role in understanding diversity within the workplace and community, and how they embed equality and inclusion in everything they do.

The council has been working to deliver and continually develop our Fair and Inclusive Action Plan as our response to inequality and in particular racial inequality and disability discrimination.

We had planned to deliver this session in venues earlier in the year but this has been delayed by Covid-19.

We are now delivering this 90 minute mandatory briefing on Microsoft Teams. It is for all council employees and all staff must attend so that they are aware of:

  • Our Fair & Inclusive Action Plan & its background & the four key workstreams
  • Our anti-racism pledge
  • Concepts frequently used when discussing race
  • Our responsibilities and actions we can take

This session is being delivered by Ododo Dafe, Head of Housing Income, Supply & Customer Service

Please note that registration and attendance is being monitored and reported to the Chief Executive and the Executive Leadership Team on a regular basis. Regular reminders will be communicated to services to ensure maximum take up of these briefings.
