Code: BH/20/1126 Adults CPD - Ethics, Values and Equalities in Mental Health

Register your interest in this 20 Credit, Masters Level 7, course by the 10th July 2020.

The module offers an in-depth exploration of issues in relation to ethics, values and equalities in the field of mental health.  The overarching aim is to enable students to reflect critically upon the contested nature of mental health and the debates in relation to ethics and values that this engenders.  An exploration of service users’ experiences of stigma, discrimination and inequality will be central to the module, as well as a critical perspective on power.  Students will also examine the development of users and carers as consumers and researchers of mental health interventions, and what this means for social inclusion.

Code: BH/20/1639 Fair and Inclusive Mandatory Virtual Staff Briefing

The council is committed to being a fair and inclusive employer and service provider to the city. This means all staff must understand their role in understanding diversity within the workplace and community, and how they embed equality and inclusion in everything they do.

The council has been working to deliver and continually develop our Fair and Inclusive Action Plan as our response to inequality and in particular racial inequality and disability discrimination.

We had planned to deliver this session in venues earlier in the year but this has been delayed by Covid-19.

We are now delivering this 90 minute mandatory briefing on Microsoft Teams. It is for all council employees and all staff must attend so that they are aware of:

  • Our Fair & Inclusive Action Plan & its background & the four key workstreams
  • Our anti-racism pledge
  • Concepts frequently used when discussing race
  • Our responsibilities and actions we can take

This session is being delivered by Ododo Dafe, Head of Housing Income, Supply & Customer Service

Please note that registration and attendance is being monitored and reported to the Chief Executive and the Executive Leadership Team on a regular basis. Regular reminders will be communicated to services to ensure maximum take up of these briefings.
