This three day training aims to both take stock of changes in health & adult social care (HASC) and look at professional leadership, cultural change and performance development under the HASC vision statement and the Department of Health Knowledge and Skills Statement for Social Workers in Adult Services.

Through meaningful and critical discussions and with the support of a selection of guest speakers, a 360 degree view of front line assessor’s roles and responsibilities will be presented and explored in depth.

Attendance to the course by front line staff will mean the local authority complies to the Care Act guidance regarding training ‘must dos’: Staff undertaking assessments must have assessment training

Code: BH/18/0324 Domestic Violence and Abuse: Working with Complex Cases (Mental Health/ Substance Use)

This course will give an overview of the complexity of supporting clients who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse who also have mental health and/or substance use issues. It will focus on barriers in engaging with services, additional risk factors for this client group and referral pathways to additional support services. 

Please note: This course is aimed at frontline staff who work directly with people with complex needs and are affected by domestic violence.

Code: BH/18/0784 Emergency First Aid - Adult Social Care (EVENT FULL)

The course, for Adult Social Care Staff, enables first aiders to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. It includes both theory and practical sessions and is designed to boost confidence. There is no final exam however delegates are assessed throughout the course and certificates, valid for three years, are issued to those who have reached the required standard.

Each delegate will be provided with a first aid manual.

Code: BH/18/0383 Emergency First Aid at Work (EVENT FULL)

This course aims to train delegates to be an initial point of contact in taking immediate action to deal with a casualty at work.

Candidates will be provided with the knowledge and skills required to preserve a life until more qualified personnel arrive to take over. If however, you are taking a lead in first aid in your workplace the three day First Aid at Work course may be more appropriate for you.

NB: Suitable clothing taking some physical activity into account should be worn.

This course covers the essential elements of food safety to enable you to safely prepare and handle food and to support people with their nutrition and hydration needs.

Course attendees will be given a certificate of attendance. There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course which will be marked and given to participants to discuss with their manager upon return to work. The Workforce Development Team will contact the managers of participants who do not pass the assessment.
