Being resilient can help you bounce back in tough times, cope with additional pressures and stay healthy in times of change. Learning habits that build your resilience, ready for more turbulent times, will prevent you becoming over-whelmed by circumstances and keep you healthier in body and mind.

This short course will introduce you to a resilience model against which you will self-assess against your current state of resilience, show you how a stronger base of resilience will help you cope with changes at work and home, and give you a taste of mindfulness exercises that can keep you calm and focused in stressful times.

The course, for Adult Social Care Staff, enables first aiders to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. It includes both theory and practical sessions and is designed to boost confidence. There is no final exam however delegates are assessed throughout the course and certificates, valid for three years, are issued to those who have reached the required standard.

Each delegate will be provided with a first aid manual.

This course is suitable for frontline workers in Children’s Services including schools, foster carers and CVS practitioners and volunteers working with children over 5 years of age.

This one day course enables first aiders to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. There is no final exam but candidates are assessed throughout the course and certificates, valid for three years, are issued to those who have reached the required standard. Recommended for certified First Aiders - this training consists of practical demonstrations and information sharing and will enable delegates to update their skills, provide an opportunity to ask questions and improve their confidence.

This 3-hour interactive course is for private and independent care homes/domiciliary carers.  The course will look at the critical aspects for medicines management using a practical approach. The course is delivered by pharmacists and technicians from the local Clinical Commissioning Group who have a wealth of experience in both hospital and the community. The course has been developed locally based on local training needs and links into the Brighton and Hove City Council and Clinical Commissioning Group medicines management policies.

PROACT-SCIPr-UK® is an organisational approach to understanding behaviour and supporting individuals to manage their own behaviour using Positive Behaviour Support.

This training day 2 is for new staff working at Tudor House, 55 Drove Road, Hillside School, Extratime and Outreach services who work with young people with learning difficulties.

The course will include:

  • reaction to crisis
  • calming techniques
  • legal issues and risk assessment
  • health & safety around physical interventions taught
  • record, reporting, record keeping documentation

Audit based physical interventions:

  • protective stance (stage 2)
  • front approach prevention
  • front arm catch
  • two person touch support

The course includes a short written test to assess participants' understanding of course content and an assessment of the physical interventions taught during the course.
