Code: BH/20/1126 Adults CPD - Ethics, Values and Equalities in Mental Health

Register your interest in this 20 Credit, Masters Level 7, course by the 10th July 2020.  

The module offers an in-depth exploration of issues in relation to ethics, values and equalities in the field of mental health.  The overarching aim is to enable students to reflect critically upon the contested nature of mental health and the debates in relation to ethics and values that this engenders.  An exploration of service users’ experiences of stigma, discrimination and inequality will be central to the module, as well as a critical perspective on power.  Students will also examine the development of users and carers as consumers and researchers of mental health interventions, and what this means for social inclusion.

Addressing gang crime and youth violence has been identified as a national priority and frontline staff and those working with children and young people are well placed to identify individuals at risk of gang involvement and to provide timely support and interventions to support them. This course will be facilitated by Excelsior Safeguarding CIC and will be suitable for anyone who works with children, young people or families within the Sussex area to equip you with the knowledge and tools you will need to support vulnerable young people.

These sessions will be presented via Microsoft Teams - the presenter will contact attendees 24hrs before the training to provide the invite details.

The session will be run in two 2 hours segments with a break of 45-60 mins between them.

Code: BH/20/1557 Strengthening Families Plans and Child in Need Reviews - Mandatory Training for Social Workers (Microsoft Teams)

This course is mandatory for all children’s social workers who work in roles where they work with families under the Child in Need process.

The course will help social workers write plans in collaboration with the family, as part of the ongoing relationship and assessment process. Social workers will be able to use solution-focussed and strength-based approaches to writing plans that help the family focus their best hopes and create a clear plan of action which is linked to change for the children. The session will also cover skills to chairing the review meeting to help facilitate change.
