Register your interest in this 20 Credit, Masters Level 7, by the 31st July 2019

This standalone module aims to equip social workers in all fields, and professionals within related health and social care services, with an in-depth critical awareness of contemporary attachment theory and research. It is designed to inform their practice with vulnerable groups across the lifespan particularly when thinking about longer-term intervention work and trauma-informed approaches. This module will also consider developments within neuroscience, developmental trauma and related theories of attachment such as mentalisation

This 30 credit module explores a variety of key topical issues relevant to contemporary social work practice with young people. It incorporates the most recent research and emerging best practice on these key topical issues and draws on professionals from a range of disciplines to deliver subject-specific content.

The module covers:

Trauma-informed approaches.
Adolescent development.
Youth justice: theories and legislation.
Working with extra familial risk.
Sexual and criminal exploitation.
Human trafficking.
Gender-based violence, including FGM and forced marriage.
Radicalisation.
Gang activity and county lines.

The module includes presentations from survivors and young experts-by-experience who deliver dynamic and interactive sessions.

This course is specifically for Brighton & Hove City Council managers and staff who are moving into or aspiring to management roles in the near future at the council
 
This two day course will provide an opportunity for managers to discuss and debate the challenges they face in managing performance at Brighton & Hove City Council. Opportunities will be available to explore different approaches to managing performance and how to manage both effective performers and staff who are underperforming.

Part of the course will involve finding out about the HR policies and procedures you need to know and carry out to deliver your role effectively.


A central component of the course will be analysing our performance as managers by identifying our strengths and areas for development in our managerial roles.


This is a skills based course with plenty of opportunities to work in small groups, develop skills and receive peer feed-back.


The course will offer a variety of management tools to enable managers to develop their management practice.

This full day course is run twice a year and will raise your awareness about sex work and develop your skills to effectively provide support. Delegates will develop practical skills and tools to help them to work directly with sex workers in addition to learning about the law, the national and local landscape and consider the diversity of experience of sex workers. Delegates will additionally consider the links between sex work and violence and abuse. The course will provide an overview of the work undertaken in the city, and how to refer to specialist services.
