Code: SGC/16/866 Autism Awareness - The Impact on Families (EVENT FULL)

This course is appropriate for all Children’s Services staff, CVS staff, volunteers, support staff and foster carers and offers an introduction to understanding autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and gives attendees a chance to reflect on the common challenges faced by families caring for a child or young person with ASD.

With input from local families, we discuss how the needs and challenges of families change as their child moves through different life stages and how the support needed by families can also change over time.

This course is for staff with managerial responsibilities who work in provider services.

The training focuses on the role of the provider manager in carrying out a safeguarding enquiry when you have been caused to carry out an enquiry, as well as your responsibilities in terms of reporting a safeguarding concern to the local authority and where you may work in partnership with health services.

It explores the aims, tasks and best practice requirements of planning and implementing a safeguarding enquiry in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach.

This course is aimed at staff involved in the manual handling of adults, including the use of hoists and other support equipment, who have completed the Safer People Handling Basic Awareness training course or a Safer People Handling refresher course within the last 12 months. Important Eligibility Applies - if you last completed training outside of the last 12 month period (30 days beyond this, absolute maximum is acceptable) or you have not completed training in this area before please do not book onto this refresher event, you must complete the bascic awareness event.

It is a National/local directive that staff refresh and update their knowledge and skills regularly. This half-day course will update staff on the possible injuries to themselves and enable them to carry out transfer operations safely.

Code: BH/17/1318 Triple P - Primary Care (EVENT FULL)

Primary Care Triple P is a brief targeted intervention in a one-to-one format that assists parents to develop parenting plans to manage behavioural issues (e.g. tantrums, fighting, going shopping) and skill development issues (e.g. eating independently, toilet training, staying in bed at night).

To provide Primary Care Triple P to families, practitioners must have completed an approved active skills training program and demonstrated their knowledge and competence in program delivery through a skills-based accreditation process.

Please note that participants will also need to attend a pre-accreditation workshop on 19 March and an accreditation session on either 20 or 21 March (this will be arranged at the initial training).

An optional third day for delegates requiring Discussion Group practitioner training is taking place on 23 February, please book you place separately for this.
