Code: BH/20/1285 Safeguarding Adults: Being Caused to Undertake a Safeguarding Enquiry (EVENT FULL)

This course is for Adult Social Care Managers and Senior Staff who may be “caused to” carry out a Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiry. This includes Provider Services in the local authority, private and voluntary sector. It is also relevant to others who may be “caused to” enquire eg. Occupational Therapists and Care Managers who work for BHCC.

This course looks at your role and responsibilities as a senior person in your organisation, and explores good practice in relation to planning and implementing a safeguarding enquiry. It includes recognising what abuse and neglect is, and what you can do to prevent it, as well as clarifying what a safeguarding concern is and applying the 3 key tests. It also looks at safeguarding requirements with reference to legislation and local procedures, including the Care Act and Making Safeguarding Personal.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the popular Communicating with Impact workshops will be delivered remotely instead of face to face for the rest of 2020.

This has given us the opportunity to review its success and identify different ways to deliver the training, as well as the further embedding of the learning.  We have commissioned 6 pilot remote sessions to support your continual development as a manager. 

Please note that this learning consists of pre course work (approximately 30mins), two, (2 hour) online workshops, 2 weeks apart.   Please ensure that you are available to attend both sessions.

Code: BH/20/0899 Emergency First Aid at Work - for council employees and schools ONLY

This course is for you if you are employed by Brighton and Hove City Council or in Brighton and Hove Schools and:

• you have been designated as an Appointed First Aider for your area of work
• you are confident and can remain calm in an emergency situation
• you require your three yearly refresher training

Please note: there are specific courses for staff that work in Adult Social Care or Children Services 

This course aims to train delegates to be an initial point of contact in taking immediate action to deal with a casualty at work.

Candidates will be provided with the knowledge and skills required to preserve a life until more qualified personnel arrive to take over. If however, you are taking a lead in first aid in your workplace the three day First Aid at Work course may be more appropriate for you.

NB: Suitable clothing taking some physical activity into account should be worn. 

The programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed below in the additional information. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course

Emergency First Aid at Work certificates that expired after 16 March 2020 can remain valid until 31 October 2020 or 6 months from date of expiry, whichever is later.
Training for renewal of certificates must be completed by 31 March 2021.
