What is IOSH Managing Safely and who is this course for?


This course is accredited by IOSH (The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) and will provide delegates with an opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised, health and safety qualification.

This training is recommended for managers, supervisors and team leaders who wish to gain confidence and a  deeper understanding of their health and safety responsibilities and successful health and safety management. This course will help delegates to lead by good example, to effectively manage the health, safety and wellbeing of their team and embed a positive and safe culture in the workplace. 
 

What does this course cover?

This course covers responsibilites, identifying hazards, assessment and control of risks, incident and accident investigation and measuring performance.

How will the course be delivered and assessed?

This training course will be delivered virtually via Zoom in 4 sessions, between 09.30-15.30 on days 1, 2 & 3 and between 09.30 and 12.30 on day 4. Delegates must be able to attend all sessions and undertake a 45 minute knowledge based test  consisting of multi-format questions on the final day. Delegates will also be required to complete a skill-based, practical risk assessment carried out in their workplace

 
Priority for places is given to BHCC staff and Schools staff but a limited number of places are available to external people. 

IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you are able to undertake this course from a suitable and quiet,work area/room. You are also advised to check in advance that you have access to Zoom and have audio and visual functionality on your computer, as you will need to be seen and heard by the trainer.

The Zoom link for this online session will be sent to you in advance of the virtual session.

Code: BH/21/1365 RSPH (Level 2) Supporting Behaviour Change (Health & Wellbeing) (EVENT FULL)

This popular, accredited course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to offer opportunistic brief advice to, or engage in, brief interventions with individuals which could improve their health and wellbeing. It is a Level 2 accredited Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Award.

Participants will develop skills in reflective listening and be introduced to the principles which underpin motivational interviewing, whilst also considering what helps and hinders the change process, including developing awareness about resistance and reluctance.

By the end of the course participants will have developed a toolkit of strategies they can apply when working with individuals to facilitate behaviour change.

The course is currently being offered remotely, with the training delivered via four Zoom sessions and supported by completion of set self-directed reading and tasks. Please note this course was previously delivered over two full days.

Participants will be required to:

·         Attend 3 x 3-hour online training sessions, via Zoom

·         Complete self-directed tasks set by the trainers, prior to and between Zoom sessions (up to 4 hours)

·         Attend a 3-hour revision and exam online session, via Zoom (for those wanting RSPH accreditation)

Code: BH/21/1285 Safeguarding Adults - Basic Awareness

This course looks at the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to adults, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting. This course is aimed at customer facing staff who support adults.
