Code: BH/21/1149 What is Infant Mental Health and How Can We Help? A collaboration between psychology and social work in Brighton & Hove

This  two and a half hour course comes out of a new collaboration between BrightPIP, a parent-infant psychological therapies charity, and EPAP, the ‘baby hub’ undertaking statutory assessment and safeguarding interventions with parents/carers and babies within Brighton & Hove.

The first hour of the course will explore what is meant by ‘infant mental health’; a phenomenon that is both separate and inextricably linked to parent/carer mental health and the attachment relationship.  With reference to infant development in the context of abuse and neglect, the course highlights signs of security and distress in infants. The second part of the course will focus on psychological interventions with babies and their parents/carers, including what these look like (via videos and case examples) and how practitioners might access them via referral to BrightPIP/EPAP.

Please watch the below video prior to the course. It takes about 45 minutes.
