Code: BH/19/0770 Attachment Aware (EVENT FULL)

This course for professionals in Families, Children and Learning will examine the theory and practical applications of Attachment Theory, using the Secure Base Model, which provides a positive framework for therapeutic caregiving, to inform what we can do to promote resilience and emotional well-being within individuals and systems. This includes developing security through not only relationships with specific attachment figures but from a secure base provided by the whole environment (family, friends, school, activities). The course is structured to give an overview of this key theoretical framework within Child Development, and how it fits with national and local drivers, initiatives and contexts, with opportunities for different professional groups to consider how to be ‘Attachment Aware’ in their practice. It is relevant for all professionals who work with young people and families.

Code: BH/19/1366 Back on Track

There are a higher number of parents who are dependent on alcohol in Brighton and Hove than the national average.  We know that for many parents it may take lots of conversations with different people for them to recognise they are drinking to a concerning level and to think about getting help.

This course is aimed at any frontline staff who might be working with families, who may have an opportunity to speak to them about their alcohol use. It will focus on the skills that staff who may not have had experience or knowledge of alcohol and substance misuse can use if they have concerns about a family they are working with, and where they can signpost and refer parents and families to in Brighton and Hove. There will also be opportunity to discuss past or current situations where you might have had concerns about a parents alcohol use.
