This course looks at experiences of sensory perception amongst autistic people.

Participants will have the opportunity to consider how these issues can affect the people they support and how modifications to the environment can reduce some of the difficulties faced by autistic people.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear the first hand experience of autistic people through written accounts, video or presentations. 

This course is suitable for staff who have regular contact with adults on the autism spectrum who have already completed the basic awareness course.

Code: BH/21/0958 First Aid Half Day Annual Refresher - for council employees and schools ONLY

Who is this course for?

The Annual First Aid Refresher course is primarily aimed at delegates who are qualified in First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work.

Please note: there is a specific refresher course for Paediatric First Aiders.

Attending an Annual First Aid Refresher course is not a legal requirement for those who are qualified in either First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work, but is ‘strongly recommended’ by the HSE.

This training is for:

  • People who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic first aid to people in a range of first aid situations and hold a current qualification in First Aid
  • First Aiders that have previously attended First Aid at Work of Emergency First Aid at Work training and require a refresher to increase their confidence and update their skills and knowledge

This training is not for: First Aiders that need to renew their qualification. 


Purpose

The purpose of this training is to refresh the first aid skills and knowledge of qualified first aiders and emergency first aiders in the workplace.



Objective of the course 

This training will benefit delegates by enabling them to refresh their knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, covered in the First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work courses. It is designed to help First Aiders maintain skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.

How are delegates assessed?

There are no formal practical or theory assessments.  The trainer will carry out on-going assessment to assess the learners’ knowledge, skills and understanding related to the assessment criteria.

Re-Certification

The Annual First Aid Refresher does not lead to a qualification and is not certificated.  


IMPORTANT: the first aid training programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are provided in the attached guidance document. Please ensure that this is read and understood before applying and attending this course. Delegates can also request a copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course

Please note: Whilst the course is delivered in a covid secure way, please consider with your manager whether it is essential for you to attend as the delegates will be a mix of staff from different workplaces.

These 4 x two-hour bite-sized on-line training sessions introduce delegates to the core skills, tools and techniques they will require to manage projects.

Code: BH/21/1858 Safer People Handling - for Unpaid/Informal/Family Carers only

This one day course is designed to increase carers awareness of the possible injuries to themselves and to enable them to carry out transfer operations safely. The course includes informal discussions and practice in transfer techniques.

Due to Covid-19, numbers on this course are strictly limited, and will also allow time for all carers to practice the various transfer techniques and use of the transfer aids.

The programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed in the attached document. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course.

Please note: - this course is open to unpaid carers/informal carers/family carers only. Whilst the course is delivered in a covid secure way, please consider whether it is essential for you to attend as the delegates will be a mix of unpaid/informal/family carers from across the City.

This course will take place with a maximum of 7 delegates and will last for the day from 09.30am – 4.30pm.

During these current times delegates will need to enter Montague House by using the wooden gate on Somerset Street. This will be open on the day, behind the wooden gate you will find the back door into the manual handling training room.
