Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK. It is more common as you get older. 79% of lung cancer cases are preventable, learn about the risk and causes and the sign and symptoms of lung cancer.


The Speak Up Against Cancer team are working to raise awareness, as well as early signs and symptoms. The team are fully trained, local volunteers with an experience of cancer. They believe that the power of lived experience is extremely powerful and are keen to hear from other local people whose cancer was caught early and successfully treated.

This half day knowledge and theory virtual Teams session is designed to increase staff awareness of the possible injuries to themselves and to enable them to carry out transfer operations safely. The course includes informal discussions on the theory and knowledge of Safer People Handling.

This virtual Teams session is only for Brighton and Hove City Council Adult Social Care staff and is open to both new starters and staff refreshing.

Following this virtual session there are four Safer People Handling – Practical Sessions running at Montague House on 15th & 30th June 21 (morning and afternoon sessions available) which will cover the transfer techniques and the use of transfer aids.  These sessions are available on the Learning Gateway.
