Code: BH/20/1607 Safer People Handling - Practical Session Only - BHCC staff only (EVENT FULL)

Before attending this practial session you must have completed the Safer People Handling – Adults – Interim Covid-19 Distance Learning course on the Learning Gateway and must have passed the online assessment. Details of how to access the distance learning are in the note below.
 

This session follows on from the distance learning and covers transfer techniques and the use of transfer aids.  Due to Covid-19 this training session will only be covering the practical element.  

This practical session is only for Brighton and Hove City Council Adult Social Care staff. This practical session is open to both new starters and staff refreshing.

The programme has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed below in the additional information. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme.

The practical training session will take place in pairs or a maximum of 3 delegates and will last for 1.5 hours. The allocated training session times are: -
09.30am – 11.00am
11.15am – 12.45pm
1.00pm – 2.30pm
2.45pm – 4.15pm.

When you receive confirmation you will also receive confirmation of your allocated time.

Delegates are requested to arrive no more than five minutes prior to their session, to allow time for the previous pair to exit Montague House.  Entry to Montague House for delegates attending will be at the back entrance of the training room, delegates will need to go to Somerset Street and they will find a wooden gate that will be open for entry to the training room. This is because reception at Montague House is currently closed.

Delegates can request a full copy of the risk assessments covering this practical session.

This basic awareness course is for Independence & Wellbeing Support Workers and will give participants’ skills and knowledge to carry out moving and handling of adults.

The training has been amended due to the Covid-19 outbreak and infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course are detailed below in the additional information. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course.

It will be delivered using social distancing and will be observation only.

Participants are requested to arrive no more than five minutes prior to their session, to allow time for the previous participants to exit Montague House. The main reception is currently closed, so entry to Montague House for delegates will be at the back entrance of the training room, via Somerset Street, where you will find a wooden gate that will be open for entry to the training room.

Code: BH/21/0231 Safer People Handling Risk Assessor - 3 Sessions over 3 days

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to make suitable and sufficient assessments of all manual handling operations and to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to the lowest level reasonably practicable. This course will provide assessors with the necessary information and skills to undertake assessments of manual handling needs. 

This course is for managers and senior staff who will be carrying out manual handling assessments, and who have not completed either this course or the shorter refresher course ('Safer People Handling Risk Assessor Refresher') within the last 2 years.

Participants will receive an attendance certificate to show that they have received training under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

Due to Covid-19 training restrictions this course will run differently. 

This course will run over 3 consecutive days as follows: - 

• Day 1 = Half day 09.30am - 12.30pm – Virtual online Teams session - covers the legal foundation for Risk Assessments 
• Day 2 = Face-to-Face - practical session – 2 hours per 3 delegates - Manual Handling Training Room, Montague House
• Day 3 = Half day 09.30am - 12.30pm – Virtual online Teams session - indepth session on documentation and problem solving.

You must attend all 3 sessions.  

Infection prevention control measures and special instructions for attending this course on Day 2 are detailed below in the additional information. Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the practical session. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course.

The practical training session will take place with 3 delegates and will last for 2 hours. The allocated training session times are: -
09.30am – 11.30am
11.45am – 1.45pm
2.00pm – 4.00pm.


When you receive confirmation of a place you will also receive confirmation of your allocated time on Day 2. Where possible, if you are able to attend with staff in your organisation you will be placed together.

Code: BH/20/1637 Safer People Handling Risk Assessor Refresher - Practical Session Only

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to make suitable and sufficient assessments of all manual handling operations and to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to the lowest level reasonably practicable. This course will provide assessors with an annual update on the information and skills to undertake assessments of manual handling needs. This course is for managers and senior staff who will be carrying out manual handling assessments. Due to the restrictions on training with regards to Covid-19, the restrictions for attending this course have changed to take account that staff have not been able to attend training since March 2020, so for those staff who have completed the Safer People Handling Risk Assessor refresher course or the full course ('safer people handling risk assessor') within the last 2 years can request a place on this course.

Please ensure these are read and understood before applying and attending the programme. Delegates can also request a full copy of the risk assessments that cover this training course.

Due to Covid-19, this training session will only be covering the practical element.  Prior to attending this practical training session you must have completed the attached Safer People Handling Risk Assessor Refresher Risk Assessment.  This completed document must be returned  prior to attending the course to the training provider for marking.  The completed document needs to be sent to  info@hertshandling.co.uk
