Code: BH/21/0579 Mindfulness for Social Work - 6 week introductory programme (Microsoft Teams)

This accessible 6-week programme provides an introduction to Mindfulness for Social Work and will enable you to try out daily mindfulness practice as a 6-week experiment; understand how practicing mindfulness may support both wellbeing and relationship based practice, and develop a greater understanding of local and national mindfulness resources. Note: this course does not teach skills in teaching mindfulness to children or adults.

The course consists of live, 75 minute, weekly teaching sessions using MS Teams, plus self-guided learning with video lessons, mindfulness practice downloads and teaching materials via a dedicated course website. NEW: Video lessons include materials from Annie Bertram, a trainer and parent with lived experience of safeguarding processes. There are two brief reflective assignments with feedback.

Live dates are: Wednesday 26 May, 2 June, 9 June, 16 June, 23 June & 30 June 2021.

Daily home mindfulness practice is a core part of the course and you will be asked to schedule in 2 x 10 minute daily guided mindfulness practices (at a time that suits you) for the duration of the 6 week programme.

There are two short reflective assignments within the course but this is primarily an experiential programme which will enable you to explore for yourself whether practicing mindfulness is something you would like to pursue beyond this introductory programme.

Code: BH/21/0370 Mindfulness for Children and Young People (EVENT FULL)

This 3 hour online workshop introduces the concept and practice of Mindfulness for child and adolescent wellbeing. This workshop will provide a number of experiential activities which may be applied in working with children and families and to workers own emotional wellbeing. We will briefly cover some of the current theory, research and evidence specifically related to children's and young people's mental health and further reading, training and development oppertunities will be highlighted. 
There will be some gentle movement, so please wear comfortabel clothing. You may also like to bring along a yoga mat, blanket and cushion, for the mindfulness practice.
