The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served, and their families, are treated fairly. Brighton & Hove City Council is a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant and has a commitment to provide training for staff on how to work effectively with people who are current or former armed forces service people.
This short session will provide you with the skills and knowledge to better understand military life and the needs of people who may have left the Armed Forces, how to engage with them and how your service might work with others in the best interest of serving personnel and veterans, family and carers.

Are you a key worker? This course will clarify your important role in supporting the people who access your service. The course will look at how care planning is used as an effective means of communicating, in order that service users are understood, and that their needs are met in accordance with their wishes.

The course, for Adult Social Care Staff, enables first aiders to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill. It includes both theory and practical sessions and is designed to boost confidence. There is no final exam however delegates are assessed throughout the course and certificates, valid for three years, are issued to those who have reached the required standard.
Each delegate will be provided with a first aid manual.

This update is for staff who have attended the safeguarding adults basic awareness training in the last 3 years and need a refresher.
The course is a reminder of the main principles of adult safeguarding in line with the Care Act and the Making Safeguarding Personal approach. It explores practice issues regarding abuse or neglect to service users, including the responsibilities of staff in preventing and reporting this. This course is aimed at frontline staff who support adults.

This course is aimed at staff involved in the manual handling of adults, including the use of hoists and other support equipment, who have completed the Safer People Handling Basic Awareness training course or a Safer People Handling refresher course within the last 12 months. Important Eligibility Applies - if you last completed training outside of the last 12 month period (30 days beyond this, absolute maximum is acceptable) or you have not completed training in this area before please do not book onto this refresher event, you must complete the bascic awareness event.
It is a National/local directive that staff refresh and update their knowledge and skills regularly. This half-day course will update staff on the possible injuries to themselves and enable them to carry out transfer operations safely.
